A Workflow that checks every box.
Every production starts on foot — walking the venue, understanding coverage requirements, mapping rigging points and power. From that survey comes a full system design: speaker positions, signal flow, cable routes, and power distribution.
Using Vectorworks or Sketchup, accurate 3D venue models are built from 2D floor plans — complete with architecture, rigging structures, and speaker positions. These models feed directly into acoustic simulation software, bridging the gap between design and prediction.
Before anything is hung, speaker coverage is modelled in simulation software. Using the 3D venue model, I predict how sound will behave in the space — identifying coverage gaps, managing overlap, and optimising array angles for even audience coverage.
Artist tech riders are reviewed ahead of time to verify input lists, microphones, backline, monitor needs, IEM preference and stage requirements. Every detail is confirmed so that soundcheck starts with a system that's already set before the artist arrives.
Consoles are patched, PA Rigged, processors configured, speakers tuned, RF coordinated, cabling tested — all in place and ready for rehearsals. A tight build schedule keeps complex productions on time.
Once the system is rigged, every element is measured, aligned, and tuned using SMAART — the industry-standard dual-channel FFT platform. Delays are set, EQ curves corrected for room acoustics, and of course a walk through the venue to verify that simulation and reality match expectations.
Wireless microphones and IEM systems demand precise frequency management. Using Shure Wireless Workbench, I scan the RF environment, coordinate all transmitters and receivers, and label every device ensuring interference free operation.
Crew communication is mission-critical. I deploy Riedel Bolero and Clearcom FreeSpeak wireless intercom networks — DECT-based systems with distributed antennas and configurable beltpacks keeping every department connected from rehearsals to curtain call.
QLab handles all audio playback and timecode-triggered cues with frame-accurate timing. Bitfocus Companion drives a custom Stream Deck surface — every button mapped to a specific cue, network command, or system function, putting the entire show within reach.
